FAQ
How does "tweecret santa" work?
'Secret Santa is a holiday tradition in which members of a group are randomly assigned other members to whom they anonymously give a gift. Often practiced in workplaces, or amongst large families, participation in it is usually voluntary. It offers a way for many people to give and receive a gift at low cost to those involved.' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Santa
It offers a way for many people to give and receive a gift at low cost to those involved. The founders of tweecret santa wanted to reinvent the ritual to be used in social media, especially on twitter and tailor it to the patterns of usage as seen in the twitter community. After several direct tweets the idea of "tweecret giving" as a "tweecret santa" and a new pre-Christmas tradition had been born. The idea is beautiful in its simplicity: the act of giving takes place online, with the offline presents being replaced by equally valuable online nuggets of knowledge. >From 8th of December, "tweecret givers" send and receive useful links to unusual youtube clicks, current soundtracks, stunning photographs, informative podcasts or a potentially useful contact presenting him/herself, and much more. True to the motto of "a joy shared is a joy doubled", the tweecret network is called upon to partake in sharing presents via twitters and twitpicen with the hash tag "#tweecret".
>From 1 to 28 December 2009 the virtual handing out of presents will take place, that is to say: Tweecret giver and receiver will share anonymous gifts, such as a useful link to an interesting article, a fancy YouTube clip, a relaxing sound, a breathtaking twitpic, a funny podcast etc. more tipps . Our service allows participants to submit online gifts anonymously, on behalf of www.twitter.com/tweecretsanta, to deliver it via a Twitter direct message and pick up your gifts in the same way.
New asssignments of tweecret santas will take place every Tuesday, this means we will send you a new name via Twitter Direct Message every week.
Registration is open until 20th December at the latest. New registrations will receive their tweecret person after the weekly assignment on Tuesday. At end of December at the latest, we will reveal the name of your tweecret santa.
